Flexibility for special comfort
Optilene® is widely used in veterinary practice and clinics for hernia and vascular surgery, demanding skin closure, for tendon and capsular suturing. The good handling is achieved by the impressive elasticity and stretch properties. At the same time, Optilene® characterised by its proven reliable tensile strength.
Indications
- Hernias and vessel surgery
- Tendons and capsular suturing
- Skin closure
Properties and features
- Soft and smooth
- Good elasticity and elongation properties
- Proven reliable tensile strength
- Controlled knot run-down
Structure: | Monofilament, uncoated |
Chemical composition: | Polypropylene / Polyethylene |
Diameter: | USP 10/0 - USP 2 |
Colour: | blue |
Knot tensile strength retention: | non-absorbable |
The monofilament advantages
- The monofilament sutures appear to have the lowest infection promoting effects [1-4]
- Compared with braided multifilament sutures, absorbable monofilaments exhibit less tissue drag and cause less tearing because of their smooth surfaces [5]
