Infusion therapy – easy, for certain!
In fluid and volume replacement therapy, the intravascular and/or extracellular fluid volume is treated with infusion solutions.
In the case of threatening or existing fluid deficiencies due to cutaneous, enteral or renal losses, so-called crystalloid infusion solutions can be used to equalize an extracellular fluid deficiency.
The acute loss of intravascular fluids in particular can lead to life-threatening situations.
In the case of acute volume loss, such as the loss of blood, colloidal infusion solutions can also be used in addition to crystalloid infusion solutions to replace the corresponding loss of intravascular volume.
From venepuncture to the actual infusion, all components are integral elements of an infusion system.
Their interaction creates a system that promotes safe infusion therapy.
